City of Port Orchard | Tremont Street Widening
Construction hours are 7am- 5pm. Please slow down and proceed with caution.
Our workers' safety depends on it.
Phase 2 construction will include closures on Tremont Street from South Kitsap Boulevard through Roland Avenue and on Pottery Avenue from Tremont Street to the intersection of Alder Lane and Tremont Place. Two-way detours will be in place and monitored to maintain traffic flow. Motorists are advised to slow down in construction zones and residential areas. Driving at an unsafe speed in a work zone could result in a citation or worse, an accident. Please be safe. Our workers depend on it.
Project Purpose: The Tremont Street widening project will improve travel times for everybody, including commuters, as we move to and from the center of the city along Tremont Street. In addition to improved travel times, the project will bring the roadway up to current standards, and these changes will improve safety for all of us, particularly for bicyclists and pedestrians. The roadway will be safer, more serviceable, and will even look better.
A public open house was held at City Hall, Council Chambers on Thursday, July 27th from 6pm to 8pm, to communicate project details and construction updates. Short-duration detours will occur throughout the project. This project website will keep you up to date on detour and closure information. Construction will begin in July 2017 and the new and improved Tremont Street is scheduled for completion in November 2018.
